I actually really like that turn. It'll really make it interesting when we're sent to go back to Cantha.

What is the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing point in not being able to use 7 heroes? Or henchmen which dont even have elites?
I play and have ALWAYS played video games on my own. The solo experience is all that counts for me. Any game that isnt fun to play solo isnt fun anymore for me.
Maple Story I can play solo.

GW2 doesnt have to kill GW1. If ANET keeps up with the consumeables and PVE skills like Ursanway, THAT will kill the game by making the game too easy and boring.

Dont get me started on the consumables lol. Apparantly being able to use 7 heroes and your own builds is both more imbalanced and less skillfull then clearing your whole parties DP with a powerstone :-/

Also take in consideration of the 4 million copies sold, how many of them are bots, how many people own more than one account, how many people own the 3 campaigns and expansion ?

I dont mean any offence, but I would love to know how and why people have come to this conclusion?
I too have noticed that areas ingame are now empty, but that is the obvious result of a new campaign or expansion being released and the population shifting to those new areas. That would happen in any MMO!
I have also noticed few people PUGing, but that is due to alot of content being solo-able and most people only PUG for harder content (IMO).
But I am yet to see anything in over 2 years of playing to suggest loads more people are leaving the game then joining? Are you all seeing something I'm not! I cant say i've seen a fall in population at all and it has seemed rather steady from my eyes.
You just have to enter newbie towns to see there is a constant fresh supply of new characters being made. You only have to read the noob questions people still ask to see that new players are entering the game who has never played before.
But even if long-running players are leaving! So what? Did you honestly think people would play this game for ever? All games have a life-span and there is only so much you can do to rejuvinate a game.
But the sheer fact that constantly new people are joining every day, means this game wont die. Your talking about a game which has lasted over 2 years and still looks and plays better then most games on the market.
A game that is constantly rated as being on of the best MMO/RPGs on the market and has rave reviews and is concidered the leading competitor to WoW!
Even if Anet does stop support for the game, and stops updating it and patching it. The game will survive! Its not like we need millions of players to have an active community. There are more then enough people ingame to play with, trade with and talk to.

GW feels more like a solo RPG with a chatroom now with the massive amount of people not pugging. I can understand why no one wants to since.. well we all seen some of the pug skill bar, but still: This is a MMORPG.
And the grindfest and the time > all instead of skill > time are just too much. Whatever happened to the GW we all loved in the beginning?

Weve established that you play the game but the question is do you and the rest of the team take time to really look at how the games communities are responding to aspects of the game, do you do regular community discussions with people that arent just PvP'rs. An example could be a large group stressing the need to have grind absent from GW:EN but it was done anyway. It really does look like there is no interest taken in any of the actual players who have bought the game, if you prove me wrong which I hope you do then it'll be fine but I cant see anyway you can.
|
I'm not sure that's fair.
Are you saying Anet should make their decisions based on who shouts the loudest when Gaile walks into town?
Sales speak for themselves. If Anet is losing money, they will change the content of the game to make it more appealing to the people who are willing to buy it. If they don't, then we all lose out.
For the record, I think Titles were added because the community wanted them. As it doesn't hurt those that don't want titles, I never understood the complaint.

It all depends on how good they make the weapons and items that you can 'carry over" from you GW1 account through the GWEN Hall of Heroes. If they are AMAZING weapons, armor, items, etc., then I can actually see more people playing GW1 and grinding some or all of the titles just to get the loot in GW2.
I mean, look at the BMP craze right now. People had opporutunity to buy it, and those who didn't now wish that they could go back and buy it. Why? Not for the fun of the missions, but for the cool weapons.
Truthfully, I'm quite bored with GW1. But I still play every day - and I'm going for nothing but titles. Why? I'm hoping to get some cool stuff right out of the starting blocks with GW2.
If ANet wanted to actually revive GW1 and boost sales of GW1 games, they would actually give the weapons and items brought over into GW2 a tiny boost in stats over normal GW2 weapons and items. This would actually encourage more people to buy and play GW1 as a way to improve their GW2 status and play experience.

I honestly don't see why all the armour and weapon skins from GW1 won't make it into GW2
ok, armour arts may be trouble to fit to models, but a little adaption wouldn't take long, not to mention already made hero armours for the non-human as a good start

Here is where i think your wrong. GW has an incrdible fan base, nerfed only by WoW. They have added things like the hall of monuments to give reason for long time players to keep playing. GW2 from all the reviews I have read so far should be a great combo of the original GW1 traits with a few extra additions. Why would they not model some factors after WoW, WoW is one of the biggest games ever, they most be doing something right. However on that note GW1 has always been original and will keep to that mold. They know they cant directly compete with WoW, but is it possible to creat a mix of the two games that is better than WoW? I think so and i think that is the goal of GW2. GW2's main focus has to be, at first, to bring in all there original gamers and then expand. If they fail to do that it will be the death of both games, but I dont think Anet is stupid enough not to realize that.

As long as GW2 does well, I don't think Anet will shut down the original Guild Wars servers.
Who knows, maybe it will become a free game (free advertising for GW2)

I don't think it's so much that Guild Wars does well, just as long as it doesn't do horribly.
.....In retrospective that actually sounds like the same thing. It sounded a lot smarter in my head, at least.

I'd guess it really depends. If you take a look at EQ2, which has a pretty slim population, it still has its servers open. If they can have their servers open, then GW shouldn't have much problems keeping theirs open.
And ANet knows how much people love their game. If worst comes to worst, they'll incorporate an offline mode or something.

Oh crap, I totally forgot about that...
...but with "FREE TO PLAY" on it's box, I'd say it has a higher chance than most. That's probably why GW has been so successful.
